SCREENWRITING

About the programme:

The programme is oriented towards students who wish to deepen their knowledge in the field of writing for the film, TV and internet industries and to elaborate their abilities to build projects for seeking funding from Bulgarian and international financing institutions.

 

Form of education:

One year, full-time studies (2 semesters)
During the first semester students develop their own stories stage by stage (idea, synopsis, treatment).
In the second semester, students finalize their projects and prepare a package for applying to national and international financing institutions.

 

Graduation:

The students graduate with a package (in Bulgarian and in English), containing: resume, characters’ bios, synopsis, treatment, and screenplay.

 

Admission Exam:

Stage 1: The candidates submit – A) creative autobiography and B) portfolio, which consists of their creative products – films, screenplays, short stories, novels, plays, librettos or other materials, which, according to the applicants, represent their professional development.

Stage 2: The Selection Committee conducts interviews with the candidates on questions in the fields of world culture and public matters as well as on their professional creative development, endeavours and plans.

The final score is a summary of the scores of Stage 1 and Stage 2. Successful candidates are finally ranked in a descending order.

SCREENWRITING PROJECT /MASTER’S THESIS/ – supervisor chosen by the student (options: genre feature films, film adaptation, documentary, TV series, TV reality shows, interactive media, hybrid forms, animation)
